About Us
HVL (Holme Valley Lodge) 652 has been in existence since 1857 and meets monthly at the Lodge building situated in Station Road, Holmfirth.
The Holme Valley Freemasons’ Lodge (no 652) is one of 18 such Lodges in the Huddersfiled district. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month, the only Lodge in the district to meet 12 times in a year.
We have active Charity and Social Committees which arrange functions and activities throughout the year for members and their families. Funds raised at these events have benefited both local and national charities.
December is Installation month when the Lodge formally install one of its’ members as the new Worshipful Master, who is head of the Lodge for the ensuing year.
After every meeting members take part in the Festive Board which includes speeches, a 3 course meal, drinks and some entertainment from local artistes, another unique feature of HVL, and something we are immensely proud of!
Our History
Formed in 1857 the history of the Lodge and its current home the Druids’ Hall is considerable and has been extensively researched and documented by W.B Peter Berry, also a local historian, culminating in the publication of two books. These are available for download in PDF format by clicking on the images below.
